This calculator estimates how long a download takes from a file size and a connection speed. Because network speeds are usually quoted in bits per second (Mbps) while file sizes are in bytes (MB), it applies the 8-bit-per-byte conversion for you. Choose MB/s directly if your speed is already in bytes.
Sizes use binary units (1 MB = 1024 KB). The result is a theoretical best case — real transfers are slower due to protocol overhead, latency and congestion. The table compares the same file across common speeds. Runs entirely in your browser.
